Competitions and Awards 2011
Out of all submission, roughly 200 films are selected for the competitions
of the Hamburg International Short Film Festival each year.
There are several awards in each section as well as cross-competition prizes,
the winner is chosen by the audience or awarded by a jury:
INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION
Hamburg Short Film Award (EUR 3000)
The Audience Award (1,500 euros) will be given to a film from the International or the German Competition.
NO BUDGET COMPETITION
NoBudget Jury Award (EUR 2000)
NoBudget Audience Award "Optimistic Vision" (EUR 1500)
GERMAN COMPETITION
Jury Award (EUR 2000)
The Audience Award (1,500 euros) will be given to a film from the German or the International Competition.
PILSNER URQUELL HAMBURG NIGHT
Audience Award (EUR 1.500)
THREE-MINUTE-QUICKIE COMPETITION (Topic 2011 German)
The Three-Minute Quickie Audience Award (1,000 euros) is funded by the Hamburgischen Kulturstiftung
MO&FRIESE CHILDREN'S SHORT FILM COMPETITIONS
Friese Award (Children’s jury award, programmes for over 4 and over 6 year-olds,
sponsored by Springer Bio-Backwerk, EUR 1250)
Mo Award (Children's jury award, programmes for over 9 and over 12 years-olds,
sponsored by GEOlino, EUR 1250)
In the High Five! competition 3 awards (EUR 600 in total,
sponsored by GEOlino) will be awarded
CROSS-COMPETITION AWARDS
arte Short Film Award (acquisition of screening rights and a broadcast
in arte’s short film programme to a film from the German or the International Competition, EUR 6.000)
ZDFneo Award A cross-competition award for a short film with a length of approximately 15 minutes. ZDFneo will purchase the
transmission rights for 200 euros per minute (2,000 euros total maximum).
The winners will be announced on Sunday, 12 June 2011 at the Award Ceremony.
