Pilsner Urquell Hamburg Night

Pilsner Urquell Hamburg Night: Part 1

Pilsner Urquell Hamburg Night: Part 2

Playground Hamburg

Ready, steady, go: and there they run, the short films from Hamburg. You might think that this year’s Pilsner Urquell Hamburg Night solely consists of films that just want to play, whatever their form, genre or type.

A cerebral linguist enters the cinematic playground when he breaks the rules with his overeager plan to rob a café and becomes a mere token in a crooked game in the process (›No Such Thing‹). A couple of Hamburgian teenagers create a new urban popular sport that consists of running at full tilt towards a wall and then jumping against it (›Go Bash!‹) .The playful approach towards staged cinematic images traces the memory of violence (›Traces of an Elephant‹).

A small boy who is forced to pick up fishing as a hobby while his father plays with his pals (›River‹) is part of the Pilsner Urquell Hamburg Night’s line up. So is Heinz Strunk. His character Ju?rgen Dose gained a cult-following in Strunk’s audio plays. Now the character will be brought to life on the big screen, where all he wants to do is play cards (›Impact Noise in the Crawl Space‹). We will also be toying with your expectations, regarding life (›Circling‹), genre, truth and fiction (›Interview #3‹). While new perspectives on the supposedly familiar open up (›Propaganda1‹), the grid squares are extended and the possible moves along with them (›Stranger at Home‹).

So, come on, pass go and make your chunky apple sauce yourself for a change (›Homemade‹)!

And once all the films are screened and the voting cards are marked we will go straight to the festival club, where the winner of the Audience Award, worth 1,500 euros and funded by Pilsner Urquell, will be announced.

Film selection: Marein Budiner, Alexandra Gramatke, Peter Haueis,

Sebastian Hofer, Anke Lindenkamp, Manja Malz

Pilsner Urquell supports the Hamburg International Short Film Festival 2011

For many years now, Pilsner Urquell has been involved with international and national art and culture. The brand supports photography and short films, since both are connected by zeitgeist and individuality. Examples for this are the cooperations of Pilsner Urquellwith the Kurzfilmtage in Oberhausen, the Babelsberger Medienpreise and its long-standing partnership with the International Short Film Festival Hamburg.

»Pilsner Urquell has supported our festival for the last five years and we are happy to work with a partner that shares our passion for short films, supporting it here in Hamburg and in many other places. The Audience Award of the Pilsner Urquell Hamburg Night firmly established itself as an integral part of the festival and in this way, it gives tremendous support to the creation of short films in Hamburg. For that, we would like to simply say: Thank You!« Sven Schwarz, Administrative Director IKFF.

Pilsner Urquell was the first pils beer in the world, making it the model for all the other beers brewed in Pilsner brewing technique. The first one was brewed in Pilsen in 1842 and an elaborate brewing process has secured its high standard of quality to this day.
