Super 8 Aufnahmen vom KurzFilmFestival aus den Jahren 1998 – 2008.

Live kommentiert.

Samstag, 6. Juni, Punkt 24 Uhr im Festivalclub im ehemaligen Hafenklang Exil,

Große Bergstr. 178.

25 Hours Cinema

The 25 hours cinema is going to be an endurance race with films from previous festivals out to show their ideas and spirit. By using a chart board, viewers will be able to enter their own favourites. In the end, each runner-up will try to make as many laps as possible and cross the finishing line after 25 hours in style.

A Wall Is a Screen

We are celebrating the 50th anniversary of City Nord, Hamburg’s Office City in park like surroundings. Developed as an innovation by city planners, it turned into a bizarre and fascinating office ghetto as the decades went by. Short films. Walls. Urban illusions for the 25th Hamburg International Short Film Festival.

Meeting Place:

Friday, 5 June 2009, 22.30 h

Überseering 4, HH-City Nord

Entrance is free!

After the screening there will be a Shuttle-Bus to the Festivalclub.

Talent meet the producer

The short film is an independent form of art and again and again it is a place of new cinematic narratives. In order to support this independent quality, the Hamburg International ShortFilmFestival is systematically supporting the getting together of different creative people in short films, such as directors, producers, distributors, other representatives of festivals and others. For the last two years, we have been organizing several events within the frame of “Talent meets Producer”. They are intended to ease the exchange between the participants while fostering talents and offering new insights.

CROSSMEDIA – RECYCLING OR EXPANSION OF CONTENT?

Are cross medial contents incremental costs in marketing or added value?

Using case studies, producers and authors explain innovative online marketing strategies for films and shows and the demands to cross medial narrative threads. The event will also include a panel of the speakers along with media lawyers and producers.

INTIMATE TALENT MEETS PRODUCER

The mediation of personal talks between young filmmakers and producers is a recurring event. We intend to give young filmmakers and producers the opportunity to talk about their concerns in a relaxed environment far from the usual expectations. The personal talks will be arranged in the run-up to the festival and will be held as a closed event during the festival-week. The participation of directors and producers is only possible after a previous invitation.

Weekend Workshop: Composition of Film Titles

While many feature films have their own budget for the creation of title graphics, with their creators even having their own job description as title artists in the US, the means of composing titles are usually rather conventional for shortfilmers due to the lack of funds. Since the titles and openings of a film have the function of channelling expectations, they can be much more than means of transporting information. The workshop will present several ways of designing titles and discuss aesthetic aspects as well.

After an introduction to several fonts and their sources, the speaker Herbert Müller will address the historical relationship between lettering and film before coming to the main topic. Film excerpts will be used to discuss the scope for design of title sequences. Finally there will be ample opportunity to dwell on questions of corporate identity.

Herbert Müller taught at the Merz-Academy in Stuttgart and personally designed the title graphics of several feature and TV films.

The presentation will be held in German.

Sorry, the workshop is booked up.

HamburgerKino presents KinoKabaret 2009

There are plenty of things you can do within 48 hours. You can sleep in thrice, eat a healthy breakfast and be ready to be exploited, have about 20 rows with your honeybunny or you can do or plan countless other socially accepted things. That’s what you would call a well-ordered lifestyle. But that’s for other people who we hardly know (if we know them at all, that is).

After all, you can just as well use this time to plan, shoot, cut and most of all screen short films. And that is what we call Kinokabaret. And the HamburgerKino and it allies are in charge of it.

We invite all actors, directors, script writers, cutters, cinematographers and musicians who would like to experience the energies set free when no-budget filmmakers from all over the world meet and let all hell loose to come to the Haus III&70 (Schulterblatt 73, 22765 Hamburg) from 30 May to 7 June.

There will be four rounds this time, and once again, the third round will be an all-silent one, which will be set to music live during the screening on 4 June.

Come, join us and go wild! We’ll take care of the rest.

Mo&Friese late night

Late at Night

On Thursday 4 June 2009 22.00 h, when the little ones are asleep and dreaming of the next day of Mo&Friese, the grown-ups can once again take a look into the children’s programme at the 3001.

The programme consists of films from all four age brackets of the Mo&Friese festival programmes. All genres are represented, including short narratives, animations, documentaries and experimental shorts. The amount of children’s films which had originally been submissions to the international competition shows that the transitions between them and films for grown-ups is rather seamless.

As a special bonus, we are once again expecting some of the film makers, who will personally present their films. So, treat yourself with a bundle of surprises!
